Lich King Wow Update

n the Fall of the Lich King content update (patch 3.3), Arthas Menethil, one of the most sinister and iconic antagonists of the Warcraft universe, concludes his tragic tale in a final confrontation with the Horde and Alliance.

To gain more insight into this epic moment in Warcraft history, the Insider sat down with World of Warcraft Lead Encounter Designer Scott Mercer and Lead Systems Designer Greg Street. Read on to learn more about how Arthas evolved, how his fall from the Light influenced the history of Azeroth, and how the end of his tragic character arc could shape the game going forward.

Can you give us any teasers about the final Lich King encounter from a gameplay standpoint? How difficult will he be? Any insight into how his skills and powers from Warcraft III will carry over into the final Lich King raid event?

Scott Mercer: We’re going to keep those cards close to the vest, as players will be toe-to-toe with the Lich King soon enough, but I can say that he will pose the greatest challenge yet found in World of Warcraft. Beyond that, I can only share a few additional details. The battle against the Lich King takes place at the top of Icecrown Citadel where the Frozen Throne protrudes from the citadel’s tallest tower.

Throughout the fight, players will have an epic view of Icecrown Glacier, and falling off the tower will be a real danger, especially as the fight progresses. Also, I’ll just say that Frostmourne serves as more than just a weapon wielded by the Lich King during the encounter; it will actually provide a core mechanic of the fight itself, a mechanic which we hope will resonate strongly with all players -- especially the lore buffs.

Could Evony beat World of Warcraft

Some spoke of it and were laughed at, but could the new Evony Free Forever web-based gaming model eventually beat World of Warcraft for earnings in future years?

Short answer is yes, but it would take a long time.

There is no question that the web based gaming market is much hotter than offline / installer based games.

With web browser based games, anyone can signup and play from anywhere, they don't need powerful computers and they can get started right away.

In the evony vs Wow debate, blizzard has built a huge market that will take years to topple. But they aren't increased at a rapid rate - unlike Evony, who are surging ahead in new accounts.

The next few years will be very interesting to see developments in this free browser based MMO niche.

Evony Help and Support

It was a surprise to see just how many evony free forever gamers were getting stuck at the login page, many frustrated and not being able to get straight into the browser game.

For the majority, the evony login was failing because of lag and server failure. So many gamers rocking up to get into the game at the same time was causing massive overload.

It would be interesting to see just how many players have walked away from the game because of server lag. Other Free Online RPG games sites would be licking their lips at the traffic coming there way from disgruntled evony users; the likes of damoria, travian and napwars (fog of war) would be loving it.

Logging into Evony Game

When logging into the game of Evony - if lag occurs, don't panic. Sadly this has been all too common as the popular strategy game gets more and more web users.

Played straight from the web browser and now with 100 servers, the game is free and hence an evony login can sometimes be a problematic thing due to high demand.

Today however, a guide has been written to help get around these problems from time to time.

Evony Free to chase WoW pay model

The smart minds over at Evony Free Forever are apparently looking to replicate the subscription model that Blizzard use for World of Warcraft - hoping to tap into some 5 million evony account playing gamers.

Evony has raised the bar for browser based gaming and are now looking at a tonne of sequels to their popular new style RTS game.

Currently free, it doesn't look like remaining that way for much longer.

Evony 2 Approaches

The sequel to Evony Free Forever apparently to be titled 'Evony Age II' is around the corner, with developers and financial backers of the massively multiplayer browser game wanting to capitalise on the strong success of the first wave evony game.

While the amount of gaming accounts in evony is debated; you only have to look at the alexa ranking of the evony.com website to see that its hugely popular - or at least very busy at present. Ranking stands at: #543

This is staggering; to be nearing the Top 500 websites is a very good achievement. Especially since the domain and game went out of beta (Civony) in only May this year.

The gaming rumor mill suggests that there are beta Evony Age II servers available now, but at this stage I have been able to find them. According to hods.com - its at beta.evony.com but this remains offline.

Insiders in the free MMORPG games and MMORTS online gaming community suggest that additional items, attacking abilities and general hero's could be the new additions.

Fingers crossed the game developers continue to add to the pretty graphics they've unearthed for the first Evony game - something thats not only bringing new players into games, but encouraging other gaming houses to develop similar quality titles (some possibly in the free browser games space!)
